Enivornmental Policy Internship
Responsibilities:
- Attend, participate and monitor relevant City of Austin meetings, such as the Environmental Commission and City Council.
- Take notes at policy/ government meetings
- Work with partner organizations on mutual policy issues
- Develop advocacy materials
- Grow the campaign at www.nodumpingsewage.org
- Learn how to communicate environmental problems and solutions
- Research relevant policy concerns
- Help draft e-newsletter, website content, flyers and other policy materials
- Other tasks as needed and as interests intern
Preferred Qualifications
- Works well independently (some work will be remote)
- Passionate about protecting the environment
- Student in policy, public affairs, community planning, science policy, or relevant field
- Knowledge of environmental issues and central Texas ecology, especially aquifer and riparian systems
- Strong research and writing skills
- Former internship or professional experience
- Basic understanding of local government
- Computer literate, some graphic design experience preferred
- Willingness to learn and be a part of a team
- Reliable transportation
